God
bless you! I had a near-death experience years ago when my heart stopped
from what i believe was just "ecstasy" as I had a vision of Jesus - the
vision continued for about twenty minutes during which time my breathing
slowed down tremendously as my "rapture" deepened. Then, I believe my heart
paused for a few seconds - and I left my body and took off in the dark
tunnel up into the Land of the Living in the Light of Heaven, with the
beautiful Music, the Beautiful, Blissful Beings, the Limitless Joy, etc.,
and then heard The Voice tell me, "you will return here" and i was pulled
back into the black tunnel, and zoomed down, back into my body.
I later became a professor of religious studies, Catholic, although I also
teach about the History of World Religions.
What I would like to add to your data base, is that there is a popular, yet
false, belief engendered by reports of near-death experiences, that
"everyone goes to Heaven" - "everyone enters the Light", etc.
Yes, everyone goes there for a few moments after they leave this body - but
then they take their place in either Hell, Purgatory or remain in Heaven -
depending on the state of their souls, which depends on what choices they
made during their lives on earth.
Heaven is Only Love, Only Light. Selfishness has no place there. Souls
stained with self-love must be purified, if they are only slightly stained,
or habituated, to self-love. Those who are hopelessly attached to
selfishness, where there is absolutely no will to change, they are cast out
permanently into the regions of selfishness, Hell.
There are plenty of experiences of these among the writings of Catholics who
have been shown these places, including when the Blessed Virgin Mary
appears, and shows people by taking them there in spirit, for the purpose of
telling the world that they should live very carefully, because forever is a
long time to be in Hell, and Purgatory is also a difficult situation to be
in - to be Purged.
People who read about near-death experiences often get the false picture
that "everyone goes into the Happily Ever After", so we can "do whatever we
want" on earth and it Doesn't Matter.
Oh, but, Yes it does matter - very much - eternally.
It reminds me of people thinking that "to drive a car" means to get in the
car in the garage and sit there.
This is only the First Part of driving. It is not really driving.
Likewise, entering into The Light of Love is the First Part of dying - but
those Who Come Back don't see beyond that, and report that "it's GREAT
there!"
If they would stay there - then they would find that they will take their
rightful place according to the state of their souls, according to the state
of Love within themselves - have they become At One with LOVE while on
earth?? Or have they only lived for False Love - Love of Self??? False Love
has no place in Heaven - Heaven is for Lovers, so to speak, like the motto
of Virginia says.
Our Blessed Mother also has said specifically - Reincarnation does not
exist. We live Once. This is also why it is extremely important HOW we live.
In the same way that it only takes one episode of drunk driving to kill or
maim someone - we don't get "second chances" in life - it is Important to
Live Well.
Experiences of "recollection of past lives" is explainable by referring to
the morphogenetic fields which connect all biological beings - modern
biology has know about these for many years - if a person lapses into a
trance state, they can "see" the lives of other humans, "see" where they
lived, who their spouses were, what their dog's name was, etc., it is not
difficult. And because of the basic Unity of humankind, this can be
misunderstood or misidentified as being "seeing one's own past life". Modern
space-time physics also supports the existence of these fields of
information, and that past events "still exist" and future events "already
exist" in the Absolute Present - so people can "see" other people's live's
details should they go into various trance states.
India is a good example of what tends to happen when people believe in
reincarnation - which is a nice man-made philosophy generated by logic, when
one has no idea of what the truth is about life - it makes sense that
smaller things evolve into larger ones, and that one little being travels
from body to body until perfection is reached. This is a nice story - but it
is just a story. As India proves - when reincarnation is believed, people
don't care very much about how they live or how others live - "everything
will eventually attain perfection" - we can do what we want now, we won't be
around to suffer for it, another "I" will reap what this ego sows. And as
far as other people - let them rot in the streets - the sooner they die, the
sooner they can be reborn into a better life.
Humankind has been visited for centuries by the Blessed Virgin Mary (see
photos at http://zeitun-eg.org, also
http://visionsofjesuschrist.com,
and put Apparitions in any search engine) and She has shown many, many
people Heaven, Hell and Purgatory. Thousands of Catholic saints have also
been shown these places during their mystical experiences.
If we want to get True Information out about driving a car - then we should
not just portray it as getting into the car which is still in the garage,
and then getting out again, and saying, Wow! It's really cool to drive a
car!
If you are not at a point where you can accept what I write about, then at
least say, that there is information available which says that "Going into
the Light" may just be the beginning of the After Death State, and that
those who return indeed can only be said to have experienced the short
interval immediately after leaving the body, and do not have experience of
what happens permanently thereafter.
One Saint who was shown Hell, writes about what is well-known in this
theological field - that part of the pain of Hell, is just exactly having
Seen the Glory and Beauty of God after leaving one's body, and finding out
that what you hated and what you swore did not exist, really does, but you
will have no part in It. One Saint wrote: "The cries of the Damned rang out
the words of despair: "Never! Never! Forever! Forever!"

Williams' reply: Maria,
Thank you for sharing your wonderful NDE with me and your insights into life
and death. With your permission, I would like to add what you have written
me to my NDE Forum archive as a permanent fixture gracing my website.
Although there are some things I disagree with you on, I know that we have
far more in common than differences. While I was reading your insights, I
felt like I was reading the words of Emanuel Swedenborg, the great 17th
century spiritualist, whose journeys to the Other Side resulted in similar
insights. If you haven't heard of Swedenborg (you probably already have)
then you can read my page
about him here.
When one compares the influence of reincarnation on India with the influence
of Christianity on America, it certainly becomes crystal clear how focusing
on any other life but the current one we are living may not be very wise.
God forbade Paul to go to Asia for a good reason I believe. The influence of
Judeo-Christianity as a spiritual and economic force in the world and in
capitalism, is due in a large part, I believe, on the orthodox idea that
this life is far more important than focusing on any other life in order to
complete our missions. As for completing our missions in life, for the most
part, the concept of reincarnation has about as much practical use and
importance as the concept of imagining how many angels can dance on the head
of a pin, in my opinion. I can take it or leave it. There are far more
important things in life because time is merely an illusion anyway and there
is only the "eternal now." Life is everlasting and we are transcendental
pilgrims living moment by moment. If we become so heavenly minded, we might
become no earthly good. The success of Christianity lies with Jesus' maxim
that the kingdom of heaven is here already -- within. We must focus more on
bringing the kingdom to this world rather than focusing on leaving this
world for another kingdom. With more knowledge comes more suffering as Paul
wrote. I am convinced this is one of the reasons why near-death experiencers
often are forced to forget the higher knowledge they attained on the Other
Side for the purpose of completing their missions better. So there is no
advantage in believing in reincarnation. For me, reincarnation helps explain
the apparent inequities in life and divine justice. That's about it. That's
my two cents worth. Thanks again. Peace and Light, Kevin Williams
