Sarfah

It was about seven years ago when this happened. I was 22 years old. I was just dipping and "fooling around" in the swimming pool at my house. I'm not a good swimmer, but I just thought of going to the deep end - seven feet - to see my ability. And I went there. I swim.

Then, a friend of my dad dived at that point, and he surprised me, knocking the breath out of me. I panicked and he didn't see me. So I was alone at the deep end, struggling to get to the surface. I swallowed so much water and my lung was about to burst. So many people talked about seeing their whole life passing by as death nears. I saw it myself, my life reeling in front of me. Then, there was a light, and everything was white. It was really surreal. I said my prayers, and remained at peace. I was ready to meet my maker. Suddenly, a hand pulled me to the surface. It was my dad's friend. He asked me: "Are you ok?" I said "Yes". For the next thirty minutes, I just stared into the pool. And till today, I am more resolved to enjoy life to the fullest, for I remember that I nearly died once.
