Kevin Williams writes:
Oneness, Synchronicity, and Love

My major experience with synchronicity (meaningful coincidence) after my mother's death made me more interested in how we are all connected and the illusion of separation. It also made me think back to when I first experienced it. It happened before my manic depressive illness began to throw me into cycles of depression and mania. My reaction to synchronicity when it first happen to me was not fascination, but more like terror. It happened when I fell in love for the first time while I was in college. For years, I was a just a normal guy playing the field and lots of one-night-stands. I convinced myself that I would never do anything so stupid as to having a steady relationship. Forget about marriage. I played aggressively and didn't care how many hearts I broke. I even had a reputation.

But then I dated a girl who was attending the same class I was. She was different than the others I went out with. She was on the same level as I was and we shared many of the same interests. I was finding it difficult to do what I normally do in such a situation -  keep from developing an emotional bond with her. She was difficult to ignore. I was entering uncharted territory I began feeling insecure. I was losing control. The tables were turning on me. Now I was becoming the one who couldn't walk away. Infatuation melt-down. I wanted to walk away but I couldn't stop thinking about her. One night I had dreamt of her and saw her in a way that I now know was meeting her "higher self." I woke up and it seemed so real, I strongly suspected that I had really met her in the dream. I wanted to ask her but kept chickening out. I felt like it was foolish to ask her such a question. It would blow my cover and expose the fact that I had a feeling for her. But I was even more concerned about what answer I would receive. If it was true, it would confirm my worse nightmare. It would affirm that it wasn't just my imagination. There was something crazy going on here.

My life as a player was at stake. But my defensive mechanisms were not working properly. My tough facade as a uncaring heartbreaker was crumbling away and revealing my true identity as a quaking bowl of Jello. I couldn't concentrate on anything but her and had trouble sleeping. Finally, I remember thinking something like, "If this is what love is, then I don't want any part of it."

Little synchronistic things would happen that would drive me crazy. I thought about calling her on the phone and the phone rang and it's her. I bumped into her by coincidence at a location I rarely visited. It was the metaphysical equivalent of randomly reaching into a haystack and finding a needle on your first try. My studies began to suffer and I was out of control.

And because I was raised in Christian environment, I suspected that all supernatural things and paranormal occurrences were "of the devil." With these strange "magical" and seemingly "mechanical" things happening to me, and the turmoil going on within me, I feared what was happening was not entirely good.

What made it even worse was the fact that I could tell she was experiencing the same things too. But she seemed more confident than I was or at least she was able to conceal it better than I. But I knew without words, that she would be willing to plunge into the sea of love with me. But I was like a little boy too afraid to jump in. I knew I would disappear if I did. I would fall completely head over heals in love with her and then she would become my only world. Everything else would become irrelevant to me in comparison. But I walked away from her as if I had nearly been killed. It was a near-love experience. I realized later, that I had lost someone special. I wondered if she my soul mate.

Over time, I have been able to put my fears of commitment, intimacy, and surrender, into a growing perspective. Surrendering to love is surrendering to death; but in a metaphysical way.

I once read the NDE account of a woman who succumbed to death and found herself in the tunnel and being drawn toward the loving light. Usually this is a very peaceful and wonderful experience. But this particular woman was hysterical. She obviously didn't know what was happening to her. Because of this, she was terrified and struggled to avoid what was happening. She even tried grabbing the walls of the tunnel to prevent being sucked into what she perceived to be the fires of hell. I had to chuckle when I read this because it was, "There but by the grace of God go I."

I believe falling in love and falling in death means surrendering to the One-ness of the light which can be terrifying if we have never experienced it before or don't understand it. Being born into relative darkness can foster an illusion of separation. Falling in love or falling in death means discovering One-ness. The light we bring into life is the same light we realize at death. And this is why a better understanding of death will helps us better understand love. Synchronicity is a reminder that our separation is an illusion. It is love letter from heaven.

Peace and Light,
Kevin Williams

(3) What's new at near-death.com

The following are the latest additions to near-death.com website:
NDE and Science addition

I have added new information concerning scientific discoveries which suggests that the universe is built on consciousness rather than matter. Consciousness seems to behave much like a magnetic field. Recent scientific discoveries in NDE research suggests that consciousness can transcend the physical body. From our quantum consciousness we are creating our own reality which is a holistic synthesis of science, philosophy, and religion.

NDE and the Temple

My research conclusions on this page focuses on a heavenly structure resembling a temple or a library which people see during a NDE. This structure has different names such as: the Temple of Knowledge, the Temple of Wisdom, and the Hall of Records.

Real Events Can Be Observed While Outside of Your Body

Near-death researchers are particularly interested in studying those NDEs which may provide an answer to the question of whether the mind can function outside the physical body. This is the first step in determining whether consciousness can survive bodily death. This page describes some of the scientific evidence.

Discovering the Lost Teachings of Jesus Thru NDEs

I added a section to my "About" web page concerning my experience as a follower of Jesus in using NDE insights, the archeological discoveries of the early Christian writings in 1945 and the Dead Sea Scrolls in 1947, and my own personal experience, to shed light upon which Christian doctrines to accept and which to reject. And how I concluded with many other researchers that the original teachings of Jesus and the early Christians resembled Buddhism rather than the modern Christianity of Jerry Falwell and the Catholicism of Madonna. And how the light of modern NDEs is moving science, religion, and the world toward a new paradigm - the final stage in human evolution - a world full of Christs, Buddhas, Abrahams, Muhammads, Zoroasters, Krishnas, etc. A world full of spiritually awake and spiritually united people. The resurrection of humanity from death and darkness.

(5) Q & A with P.M.H. Atwater, L.H.D., Ph.D. (Hon.)
An in-depth look at the near-death phenomenon

In this section of the newsletter, P.M.H. Atwater will answer questions submitted to her from subscribers to this newsletter. Atwater's contribution to near-death studies is considered to be one of the most important as her first two books, Beyond the Light and Coming Back to Life, are considered to be the "Bibles" of the NDE by researchers and enthusiasts. If you have a question which you would like her to answer for this column, just email your question to Kevin Williams at http://www.near-death.com/contact.html for consideration.

Atwater's latest book is entitled The New Children and Near-Death Experiences and is now available. In the Summer of 2004, her next book entitled We Live Forever: The Real Truth About Death will be released but you can order a reserve copy now.

Question:  My husband and myself are both near-death experiencers. I wish to give you our deepest gratitude for your research on NDEs and the aftereffects. We have been spared much despair as a result. We also have a daughter, born in 1986 ... she's one of the Millennium Kids. We also deeply thank you for researching these kids. Our own NDEs could not fully prepare us for this incredible child! Who is now 17 years and the apple of our eye! Your research helped us not only to understand what we were going through, but also our daughter's
unique characteristics.

I have thought to write you in the past. Now, I feel I need qualified advice. Both my husband and I have experienced, for lack of better words, people from the dark side? literally zeroing in on us. This has gone on since our NDEs. I realize it seems to be a taboo topic. Are we unique in this? I will say we have learned a lot over the past 23 years since this first began. We have been psychically attacked ... our family members have, etc. We have even been verbally told by a couple of them, face to face. It isn't that we're afraid. Oh, we were, but that was some time back. We just would like to know if others encounter this also? Is this an unspoken aftereffect? I realize your reputation is at stake to write me back, or to even enter into this. I would not desire to place that burden on you. It you have the time, then perhaps you could just write back that others have reported this occurrence? Would that help? It sure would help us to know that we are not the only ones, as this has attempted to occur again through a deceptive association, and ill discernment on my part.

With much gratitude, Cynthia.

P.M.H. Atwater's reply:  People mean different things when they talk about "the dark side." Some refer to psychic residue they feel around them that is uncomfortable or cold or irritating. Some refer to etheric forms, beings, or disincarnates of the more threatening type who are invisible to our physical eyes, yet are sometimes seen or heard by those more sensitive and with the ability to do so. Still others refer to people in their environment who seem negative or hurtful, even folks far away whom they have never met or heard of who attack them without provocation and for the express purpose of harm.

We don't have "spam blockers" for this, like those we can install in our computers, yet in a way we do indeed have forms of protection that can work like a spam blocker.

Before I talk about how we can protect ourselves, I first want to say a few things. Anyone who has undergone a near-death experience, or any type of transformation of consciousness that changed them in substantial ways - is more sensitive that ever before to the vast array of sensations and input we can receive - and from greater frequencies of the electromagnetic spectrum - than they were used to, even multiple transmissions. This can be confusing. It can also be frightening, depending on the individual.

What we in research term "increased psychic abilities" and more "psychic phenomena," often are simply words used to indicate that the faculties of experiencers have expanded and enlarged. These people pick up more because they are now more open and receptive. Some people are born with this sensitivity.

I have always recommended that classes in how to develop and control psychic ability are helpful, the more the better IF from qualified teachers who are moral, ethical, and with a strong spiritual dedicated to service. The A.R.E. (Association For Research and Enlightenment, 215 - 67th Street, Virginia Beach, VA 23451-2061; 1-800-333-4499) is a wonderful place to begin. Everything they offer is tested, positive, and uplifting. There are many other places to "plug in." As in the business world, "buyer beware." That means it is up to you to check these people out, investigate resumes and testimonials. Then use the "heart test." If you feel uncomfortable around any teacher, have warning dreams about attending that class, or for any reason feel that being there is not right for you - leave! Don't allow peer pressure or guilt to keep you there. Don't put yourself in a position to be "sold" by a charismatic personality. If being there does feel right, stay and learn all that you can. It takes years. One class will not do the job. The subject is a big one and you want a good introduction and ample opportunity to test and experiment. What works for others in not enough. You want to learn what will work for you. (There are many good books out now and audio tapes that will be helpful in your quest.)

When it comes to psychic attacks, well, that's another matter. The old saying, "No one can hurt you unless you let them" has a lot of truth in it. But, perhaps not in the way we think it does. The truth lies in your own sense of self: how self-confidant and assured you feel, how willing you are to always check your own inner guidance before you commit to anything, your dedication to always put God first in "ordering" your day, affirming and knowing that Divine Guidance is always available and that you can use that Guidance by invoking its reality. The best protection a sensitive person has, in my opinion, is a lifetime dedicated to the highest and best they are capable of attaining, based on Divine Order - maintained, nourished, and refined through daily meditation and prayer. Develop the inner life by choosing the inner journey, to the wellspring of wisdom within you, your heart of hearts, the core of your Holy of Holies, God. There is no substitute for the maturity and joy and peace this brings.

In saying this, I want to be fully honest and state that anyone can be brought down; anyone can be tricked, anyone an be felled by those who are dedicated to the "darkness" of ego and the lesser mind of thinking their religion or their belief demands that they judge others who do not conform to their idea of "perfection" or "perfect action/response." I have been personally attacked by such people and with such psychic force that I instantly developed the worst case of flu I have ever had and was sick abed for three weeks before the cause could be isolated and removed. Pure possession, plain and simple. Cursing another, rituals or "spells" to destroy or hurt another, praying for another's ill-fortune, causing a series of circumstances to occur that will harm, planting the intention of accident or illness in another's mind or life path ... all of this sets up the stage for possession ... either via an invisible "intruder" or through the intervention of an individual who lies or curses on purpose. When anything like this occurs, call on others for help. I did. I called on my doctor because he is knowledgeable about such things, and I notified every prayer group and got on every prayer list I could. This did the job.

What came next for me was a step that was mine to take. I asked myself, what can I learn from this? Where is the gift? Always, always, always, we must take that next step - otherwise we are vulnerable to something like this happening again. You are in charge. It is your life. And nothing and no one can hurt you without your permission. In my own case, I was very tired when the psychic attack occurred. That weakened me and made me more vulnerable than usual. I wasn't paying attention to my own inner growth or inner status, and was taking for granted that daily prayer and meditation was enough. I was in essence "zoning off" and becoming lazy and over-confidant. The attack incident was an incredible gift to me, and I thank the people who did it. I forgive them and myself. I forgive the situation and what I went through. The incident enabled me to reassess my sense of spirituality and how I felt about people who thought differently than I do. It enabled me to "wake up" in how I felt about my life and my dedication to service. Was I coming from ego or spirit? Was I willing to continue speaking up, taking a stand, or cower into retirement and non-involvement? and at what range of vibration, what intention level, was I willing to encompass and embrace my own inner journey?

The psychic attack for me became a rich and rewarding opportunity to "look again" at where I was versus where I wanted to be. From that incident came a understanding for me on the power of surrender and what it really meant spiritually and in my life.

I invite all of you to begin your inner journey, take classes taught by mature and honest teachers on inner development, and include in your learning "package" many opportunities to explore spirituality, what Deity means to you, your sense of "Self" and the life you have been given. The more you embrace what is possible for you to attain, the less you will be bothered by those who prefer to have someone else do their thinking for them. Remember, a follower will never learn. Take the best you can find and apply it. God can do no more for you than through you. I love that old saying that offers this advice: "Do not follow where the path leads. Rather go where there is no path, and blaze a trail."

The "dark side" is just the reverse of the "light side." Real lasting power lies in the fulcrum, the middle - the third way. (To read up about Third Way principles, I invite you to obtain a copy of my book, Future Memory. Don't forget, though, that "Future Memory" is actually a labyrinth - the only book I have ever written that is mathematically calculated on the format of a labyrinth. Every sentence, every paragraph, every page is part of the math. And, like with a site labyrinth, you journey through its pages by staying "on the path" - no skipping around or reading the last first. The material will constantly enfold on you. Reading it straight through will allow you to move up in consciousness to the next highest level possible for you at that time. That is what a labyrinth does ... that is why it heals.)

Blessings to all, P. M. H. Atwater, L.H.D.

(6) Books on the NDE

At the NDE Online Store you can find NDE products such as books, documentaries, movies, music, magazines, and journals. More NDE multimedia products are coming.

"Holographic Universe
by Michael Talbot

Two of the world's most eminent thinkers - physicists David Bohm, a former protégé of Einstein's and one of the world's most respected quantum physicists, and Stanford neurophysiologist Karl Pribram, one of the architects of our modern understanding of the brain -- believe that the universe itself may be a giant hologram, quite literally an image constructed, at least in part, by the human mind. This remarkable new way of looking at the universe explains now only many of the unsolved puzzles of physics, but also such mysterious occurrences as telepathy, out-of-body and near-death experiences, lucid dreams, and even religious and mystical experiences such as feelings of cosmic unity and miraculous healings.

In Peter Russell's worldview, science and spirit are not in conflict. The bridge between them is light. From science to God invites the reader to cross that bridge to a radically different, and ultimately healing, view of ourselves and the universe - one in which God takes on new meaning, and spiritual practice a deeper significance.

"Chaos, Creativity, and Cosmic Consciousness"
by Rupert Sheldrake, Terence McKenna, Ralph Abraham, Jean Houston

Jean Houston - Among the provocative questions the authors raise are: Is Armageddon a self-fulfilling prophecy? Are we humans the imaginers or the imagined? Are the eternal laws of nature still evolving? What is the connection between physical light and the light of consciousness?

Unified Reality Theory describes how all reality evolves from an absolute existence. It also demonstrates that this absolute existence must have consciousness as an attribute that's intrinsic to its being. Thus, Unified Reality Theory shows that consciousness, rather than being a product of the evolution of physical reality, is itself the source of what we experience as physical reality, and that physical reality is itself but one aspect of an evolving universal consciousness.

Where are the edges of the universe? Where are the edges of the self? Our lives, he observes, are largely spent drawing boundaries between life and death, good and bad, pleasure and pain, heaven and hell, success and failure. We "live a life of opposites," and we are "bewitched by boundaries" But "the ultimate metaphysical secret," Wilber writes, "is that there are no boundaries in the universe." Seeing through the illusion of opposites is liberation - "the discovery of the Kingdom of Heaven on earth."

The author brings the most modern perspective of quantum physics to the most ancient questions of religion and philosophy. Taking the reader on a fascinating tour of both Western and Eastern thought, Wolf explains the differing view of the soul in the works of Plato, Aristotle, and St. Thomas; the ancient Egyptian's believe in the nine forms of the soul; the Qabalistic idea of the soul acting in secret to bring spiritual order to a chaotic universe of matter and energy; and the Buddhist vision of a “nonsoul.” And, Wolf mounts a defense of the soul against its modern critics who see it as nothing more than the physical body.

"Parallel Universes"
by Fred Alan Wolf

Wolf explains how the new physics predicts the existence of universes that are similar to and perhaps even duplicates of our own universe. He describes what it would be like to travel through a black hole to a parallel universe and claims that the future must communicate with the present. He answers the question of whether the universe had a radius before we started to measure it and argues that schizophrenics may be in touch with parallel universes. Physics is becoming metaphysics.

"The New Children and Near-Death Experiences"
by P.M.H. Atwater, L.H.D., Ph.D. (Hon.)

This book is an expansion of her original book, "Children of the New Millennium" and it goes much further in examining children's cases; a large and detailed Resource Section and Appendices. Included in the material is the story of the youngest hellish case she has found, that of a nine-day-old infant.

"Laws of Wisdom - A Holistic Synthesis of Science and Religion" Website

I stumbled onto this excellent website not long ago and I was really impressed with the amount of interesting information on it. You can even download the entire site as an ebook or Power Point presentation file for free! The webmaster is a lawyer named Ralph and his website confirmed what I suspected all along. Science and religion can fail us when they become belief systems instead of a method. Perhaps its time to take another look at a method we are already using to find truth - the legal system. By using specific analytical and analogical tools used in courts, testimonial and other evidence which science and religion cannot quantify (such as some aspects of NDEs) can be evaluated to discover truth. When science discovers that there are no real laws and everything is quantum relativity, then perhaps these tools should begin to be considered when evaluating subjective and relative experiences, testimony, and evidence

"The Society for Spiritual Regression" Website

This is the website of the professional organization dedicated to furthering research and advances in the practice of Life-Between-Lives Hypnotherapy (LBL). LBL, also known as Spiritual Regression, was first developed by Dr. Michael Newton, author of the best-selling Journey of Souls and Destiny of Souls. LBL is a method to explore the journey of the soul between incarnated lives on earth; it is an extension and evolution beyond Past Life Regression.

"Chaos Theory - Chaos Consciousness and Healing" Website

This is Iona Miller and Graywolf Swinney excellent work. Chaos theory has revolutionized science and has profound implications. It is only a relatively recent discovery in nature and mathematics that out of complete chaos you can find order. From the creation of a fractal we can understand ourselves and the world. A fractal is an aspect of the Whole that is also the Whole itself. Kind of like a drop of water from the sea, but not exactly. Fractals can be seen, for example, as a snowflake, a computer program, and even our very soul.

Tiffany Snow's "Worker for the Big Guy" Website

Tiffany Snow was struck by lightning, had a NDE and returned with a gift of healing and a mission. Now she teaches others how to activate their spiritual gifts without having to be struck by lightning themselves!
