CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA ----- (P.M.H. Atwater's Website)

In August of 2005, Inner Traditions will be publishing P.M.H. Atwater's  latest book entitled, "The New Children and The Fifth World, Prophecy and Evolution." Advance orders through Inner Tradition are welcome. Concerning her book, Atwater states: "My goal with this book is to put the various claims, visions, prophecies, and ideas about what is happening to our children and our world into perspective. Throughout my research of child experiencers of near-death states, I have been observing children in general - especially those born since 1982. These news ones are unlike children of any previous generation. Yet to understand them, one must also have a better understanding of our times: the Mayan "Suns," prophecies of apocalypse and tribulation, the root races, generational imprinting, social ages, the great shifting and the great ages, human evolution and what ahead of us. After a great deal of research, cross-checking my material, and times spent in deep prayer and meditation, the book came together. It is very pointed and specific, yet a little sassy - like the new kids are. I have felt right along that it was my duty to write this book, as if I "owed" the world this information. I am overjoyed with the result of my efforts and with the dedication of Inner Traditions to bring this project to light. People ask about the "Indigo Children," and I say read this book. You will be very surprised at what you find!"

DALLAS, TEXAS ----- (The Dallas Observer)

"I think death is an illusion. I think death is a really nasty bad lie. I don't see any truth in the word death at all." This is the conclusion of Pam Reynolds, a singer-songwriter ... Such bizarre phenomena have long aroused the curiosity of Jan Holden, a professor of counseling at the University of North Texas and president of the International Association of Near Death Studies. Holden says her interest in near-deathresearch was aroused after reading The Great Soul Trial, an account of the estate of an Arizona prospector who disappeared in 1949. [Read more]

LONDON, UNITED KINGDOM ----- (BBC News)

Have scientists at the "home" of reincarnation research in the US managed to prove its existence?... Dr Ian Stevenson, a psychiatrist in his 80s, has spent over four decades studying thousands of children who apparently remember a past life. "I think reincarnation is the best explanation, though not the only one, for the strongest cases we have," he says. It is a highly contentious claim. If reincarnation exists, it means the mind or consciousness can survive bodily death and continue in another life. [Read more]

WHITEHOUSE STATION, NEW JERSEY ----- (The India Daily)

The young girl was able to provide many details of her past life, including descriptions of her previous home and family in Mathura. At the prompting of Mahatma Gandhi, a team of researchers was put together to examine her claims. According to reincarnation expert Dr. Ian Stevenson, Shanti Devi's past life memories matched the facts uncovered by the panel's investigation. Swedish journalist, Sture Lonnerstrand, also looked into the case of Shanti Devi. After an extensive investigation he concluded, "This is the only fully explained and proven case of reincarnation there has been." [Read more]

ROSEBURG, OREGON ----- (News-Review Info)

There's a lot of examples of what some people say they've experienced. Some claim they've seen their life flash before their eyes when they were in a near-death situation. A book written by Dr. John Cleveland titled "Dancing with God" tells a story about 237 people who claim they have had a near-death experience. The book tells about what happened with each individual. Some say they had an actual conversation with God in their experience. [Read more]

Douwe Draaisma's "Why Life Speeds Up as You Get Older" leaves Steven Rose frustrated at the inability of neuroscience to understand memory ... The book charts a trajectory through life, beginning with childhood memories and ending with what we might remember just before we die, as recounted by survivors of near-death experiences, when an entire lifetime of generally pleasing memories appears to flash before them. "Psychic spy" Joseph McMoneagle also known as "remote viewing agent #001" was shown a spot on the map of the U.S.S.R., where the mysterious secret object was supposedly located, as C.I.A. agents thought. McMoneagle put his finger on the map and described the image that he saw in his mind: "It is a congregation of low stone and concrete buildings. A huge underground warehouse filled with lethal weapons. Not only missiles ... Joseph McMoneagle's success as a remote viewer increased the funding of such unusual activities, not to mention the improved moral aspect. The US authorities spent about $2 million a year on a rather small group of 20 extrasensory individuals in the 1990s." [Read more]

R.A.W. (India's equivalent of the C.I.A.) has advanced quite a bit in recent days. Sources close to New Delhi report that R.A.W. is using advanced satellite technologies and remote viewing techniques to look into foreign intelligence activities within India ... Recent days India has seen a massive amount Pakistan's I.S.I. agents arrested all over the country. The situation has gone so bad for Pakistan and Al-Queda that they are looking for reasons what is really happening. [Read more]

NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK ----- (Nature.com)

Studies showing that magnetic stimulation of the brain induces spiritual experiences are being queried by researchers who cannot reproduce key results. If the traditional theory is wrong, scientists will be left struggling to explain how such thoughts and sensations are generated. In the past, scientists have claimed that religious or out-of-body experiences result from excessive bursts of electrical activity in the brain. In the 1980s, Michael Persinger, a neuroscientist at the Laurentian University in Ontario, Canada, began exploring this idea through a series of experiments. [Read more]

LONDON, UNITED KINGDOM ----- (The Guardian Unlimited)

A series of scientific experiments in the early 1980s changed forever our understanding of the nature of matter. It is likely that it will also prove to have been the greatest religious discovery of the 20th century. Physicists call it entanglement, and it describes the state of two or more particles once they have interacted with one another. From then on, irrespective of time and space, a correlation will always exist between them. What happens to one will affect the other - even if they are now at opposite ends of the universe. The word entanglement is really a misnomer. Some scientists use "non-separability" to describe the same condition. [Read more]

LONDON, UNITED KINGDOM ----- (The Telegraph)

One of Britain's most prominent atheists has decided that God might exist after all. Prof Antony Flew, a champion of atheist beliefs for more than 50 years, said scientific evidence supports the theory that some sort of intelligence created the universe. Prof Flew, 81, a professor emeritus of philosophy at the University of Reading, said that this was the only explanation for the origin of life ... "I'm thinking of a God very different from the God of the Christian and far and away from the God of Islam, because both are depicted as omnipotent Oriental despots - cosmic Saddam Husseins," he said in his new video, "Has Science Discovered God?" A completely blind British man has been shown to possess an apparent "sixth sense" which lets him recognize emotions on people's faces, according to British scientists. The researchers say the 52-year-old was able to react to pictures of human faces showing emotions such as anger, happiness or fear. The man, identified only as 'patient X', has suffered two strokes which damaged the brain areas that process visual signals, leaving him completely blind. [Read more]

FREDRICKSBURG, VIRGINIA ----- (The Free-Lance Star)

A co-worker who lost her mother to cancer was leaving the funeral when she saw a swarm of dragonflies. It wasn't even the time of year when the insects are supposed to be out, so it probably won't surprise you that her mother happened to be a big fan of dragonflies. You've heard similar stories. Friends and relatives of those who loved cardinals or wolves, ladybugs or butterflies will see an image of those beings in the most unlikely places and be reminded of the one who's gone. Are they messages from the afterlife or just coincidences? Each of us is free to think what we like. [Read more]

Life expectancy is increasing in the developed world. But Cambridge University geneticist Aubrey de Grey believes it will soon extend dramatically to 1,000. Here, he explains why. Ageing is a physical phenomenon happening to our bodies, so at some point in the future, as medicine becomes more and more powerful, we will inevitably be able to address ageing just as effectively as we address many diseases today. If it's good enough for ravers, it's good enough for G.I.s. That's the thinking, apparently, behind the Army's decision to test the animal tranquilizer Ketamine as away to soothe injured soldiers. The drug known in the clubs has "Special K" has been reducing party-goers to gurgling blobs for more than a decade. This year, the Army has been running final, phase III Food and Drug Administration trials on a quarter-dose nasal inhaler of "K," to see if it can substitute for morphine. [Read more]

In the summer of 2004, the Australian Science Festival hosted "The Nature of Consciousness Debate" between the NDE skeptic Susan Blackmore, astrophysicist Paul Davies, and consciousness studies scholar David Chalmers. They debated such questions as these: Are we conscious now? How do we know? Could this all be a grand illusion? We know about consciousness more intimately than any other experience; yet it remains one of the greatest mysteries of science. GREENBORO, NORTH CAROLINA ----- (goTriad.com)

"What the Bleep Do We Know?" a quirky film by a former Silicon Valley entrepreneur that links quantum physics with the teachings of a Washington state guru who channels a 35,000-year-old warrior is breaking attendance records at art houses across the country ... "What the Bleep" weaves cartoon illustrations through interviews with Ivy League scientists and spiritual philosophers to suggests a new spirituality for the 21st century. [Read more]

NoteP.M.H. Atwater highly recommends this movie. She states:

"To say it is fantastic would be an understatement. You may want to see it twice. The sum of what comes from near-death experiences, death-bed visions, spiritual transformations, and from the depths of the new sciences and what has been discovered about the universe, is embraced in this film - and in a manner you can grasp. This one film illuminates the entire territory. I found myself smiling throughout, pleased that at last someone had made a movie from "Future Memory." Parts of the movie are even word-for-word from my book. No, I don't think they copied anything. I doubt that anyone connected with the film had ever heard of me, but truth is truth, no matter from whence it comes or by whom. Do see it. It is more than wonderful.

Marine Sacrifices His Life For Others in Grenade Blast
FALLUJAH, IRAQ ----- (The Seattle Times)

Peralta grabbed the grenade and cradled it into his body, Morrison said. While one Marine was badly wounded by shrapnel from the blast, the Marines said they believe more lives would have been lost if not for Peralta's selfless act. "He saved half my fire team," said Cpl. Brannon Dyer, 27, of Blairsville, Ga. The Marines said such a sacrifice would be perfectly in character for Peralta, a Mexico native who lived in San Diego and gained U.S. citizenship after joining the Marines. [Read more]

(2) New NDE Videos and DVDs

The following are new NDE videos and DVDs which I haven't had the time to add to my website but deserves mentioning here before the year's end. If you are a NDE video nut like me, you will enjoy these:

"The Near-Death Experience: Into The Light" and "Through The Tunnel & Beyond" (DVD)

"Into The Light" - With Bruce Greyson, Ph.D - Features the stories of six people who faced death yet lived to tell about it. They, like eight million other Americans have had a near-death experience, an event filled with peace and radiant with love. Hear what they have to say about death and the hereafter. "Through The Tunnel & Beyond" with best-selling author - Raymond Moody, M.D., Ph.D. Called the father of the "near-death experience" Raymond Moody teaches the technique for visionary encounters with deceased loved ones. A superb documentary shot around the world at sacred sights, among them Epyhyra, Greece where Homer described as the Oracle of the Dead. People who have had near death experiences or those who are terminally ill, tell in intimate detail what they have experienced in death and most confess that "it is the most peaceful they have ever felt." After studying the rituals performed there and throughout the ages, Moody replicated the conditions in his own studio.

"As You Die ... Know That You Live Forever" (DVD, VHS, CD, cassette)

P.M.H. Atwater's "As You Die" is the only presentation on Earth that talks a person through physical death as he or she is dying, and the soul's separation. It has been field tested for over a decade with hundreds of people, demonstrating that it really does help to alleviate the fear of death, and makes it easier and quicker for someone to die and die at peace.

    "Beyond The Light" (VHS)

In this powerful Focus special, acclaimed author and researcher, Dr. P.M.H. Atwater shares her three, life-changing, near-death experiences with FOCUS Host, Mary Lou McCall. Focus Worldwide was started by the Archbishop of New Orleans, Philip Hannan, now retired. The Archbishop, together with TV Host Mary Lou McCall, had made a trip to Medjugorje and both had a mystical experience there that convinced them they must do everything they can to bring the mystical, the spiritual, back into not only into the Catholic Church but religion itself. One of the types of programming they are devoted to is near-death experiences.

In this riveting two-part series, Storm describes his profound NDE in an interview with Mary Lou McCall. From the excruciating pain and terrifying realms of darkness, his journey into the regions of light where he conversed with Jesus, Storm reveals his conversations with heavenly spiritual beings and describes the role of angels, what happens when we die, the real meaning of life and much much more.

"From The Hamptons to Heaven" Ned Dougherty's NDE" (DVD)

Mary Lou McCall interviews Ned Dougherty in which he describes his fascinating NDE where he entered an otherworldly amphitheater of thousands of bright souls, received guidance from his deceased friend, met a Lady of Light who gave him an urgent message for the world. Dougherty also received messages from the Archangel Michael which included a prophecy that was fulfilled on September 11, 2001.

CBS program "48 HOURS" (aired November 20, 1997)

Pam Reynolds' NDE is profiled and includes a professional computer animation of her NDE. This is the only animation based on a NDE that I have ever seen in a documentary. This 20 minute short film can be found at the end of the DVD version of the 2003 horror movie, "Final Destination 2." Unlike the horrible movie it comes with, this short film is worth the price of the entire DVD. P.M.H. Atwater has this to say about it:

"Although the movie is violent and scary, the documentary is just the opposite - the finest piece of work yet done on the near-death experience. I know because I was privileged to be one of the people interviewed for this production and have seen "Cheating Death: Beyond and Back." It is only 20 minutes long, and unfortunately cannot be purchased separately from the movie, but anyone interested in the near-death phenomenon will want this documentary. It is exceptional!" -- PMH

(4) Coming Attractions

The following articles are coming soon in the next newsletter and/or following editions:
    Q and A with P.M.H. Atwater, L.H.D., Ph.D. (Hon.)

PMH Atwater will answer questions submitted to her from subscribers to this newsletter. Her latest books are entitled We Live Forever: The Real Truth About Death and The New Children and Near-Death Experiences. If you have a question which you would like her to answer for this column, just email your question to Kevin Williams at http://www.near-death.com/contact.html for consideration. For more information about P.M.H. Atwater's contribution to near-death studies, download her press kit here.

    P.M.H. Atwater's "I Died Three Times"

P.M.H. Atwater's outstanding testimony of her three NDEs will soon be profiled on this website. For years, I mistakenly overlooked her testimony because I believed that I had read her NDE testimony already. Just recently have I read her testimony in its entirety and was astounded by what I read. Rarely does NDE testimony move me to the point of tears, but P.M.H. Atwater's testimony did. I consider it one of the very best - if not the best - I have ever read. Visit P.M.H. Atwater's website.

"Scientific Proof of the Existence of God: An Interview with Amit Goswami" by Craig Hamilton

Dr. Goswami is a professor of physics at the University of Oregon and a member of its Institute of Theoretical Science. Dr. Goswami is part of a growing body of renegade scientists who in recent years have ventured into the domain of the spiritual in an attempt both to interpret the seemingly inexplicable findings of their experiments and to validate their intuitions about the existence of a spiritual dimension of life. The culmination of Goswami's own work is his book: "The Self-Aware Universe: How Consciousness Creates the Material World."

"SynchroFile: Amazing Personal Encounters With Synchronicity And Other Strange Phenomena" by Raymond E. Fowler

Dr. Kenneth Ring wrote that Fowler's researched book on the NDE and UFO experiences "may well have deciphered the ultimate nature and meaning" of these baffling phenomena. In his book "SynchroFile," Fowler applies the same kind of meticulous research into synchronistic experiences that permeate his life. This material is the result of his research into Jungian psychology, the New Physics and his study of a ten-year diary of personal and family experiences of amazing coincidences and paranormal experiences. His research lead to the incredulous conclusion that time is an illusion and that reports of synchronicity, ghosts, out-of-body and near-death experiences, UFOs, precognition, telepathy, and other extrasensory experiences are all individual expressions of one intelligent-like meta-phenomenon. An excerpt is coming soon. Visit Raymond E. Fowler's website.

"The Significance of the Near-Death Experience in Western Cultural Traditions" by Alan Pew

Alan's thesis shows the significance by identifying and analyzing works in the fields of Western fictional literature, art, film and religion which contain the NDE as the central theme. This them has been a part of the literary, artistic and religious foundations of Western cultural traditions since early antiquity. The significant and wide-ranging influence of the NDE on these traditions is evidenced by the presence of the motif throughout the various genres within each. Examples include some of the most revered classics of Western civilization. At least one researcher has suggested that the root of some of these great works may be the result of NDE-type insights experienced by recognized creative geniuses like Dickens, Wilder and Dante.
