Consciousness
may be more than just a product of brain activity, according to Dr. Jan Holden,
a professor in NT's department of Counseling Development and Higher Education.
Holden is involved with a study on near-death experiences at the University of
Virginia, which started last March ... With this in mind, Holden designed a
method of proving this phenomenon. A laptop computer that opens flat hangs on
the ceiling with the screen facing away from the floor. A series of animations
runs once the computer starts up. Holden's husband, a computer software
engineer, developed the program. With this study, Holden hopes to provide
support for the theory that consciousness is more than a product of brain
activity. "If consciousness is a product of the brain, then when the brain dies,
consciousness dies. If the brain is like a cell phone in the field of
consciousness, then when the brain dies, consciousness continues," she said. .... [Read

The
inspiration for NBC's new drama “Medium”
is participating in a University of Virginia study that seeks to prove whether
the living can talk to the dead. "Medium" tells the real-life story of
Allison DuBois, an Arizona mother of
three who claims to see dead people and helps police solve murder cases ... “We
know it can be done. There is a history of mediums who worked under these
conditions in the '20s and '30s and did quite well,” Kelly said. “It's a matter
of identifying someone who can do well under these conditions.” This is the
first study that UVa has conducted studies with mediums in 30 years.
The Division of Perceptual Studies typically researches reincarnation,
near-death experiences, death bed visions and out-of-body experiences..... [Read

Abstract:
The spatial unity of self and body is challenged by various philosophical
considerations and several phenomena, perhaps most notoriously the "out-of-body
experience" (OBE) during which one's visual perspective and one's self are
experienced to have departed from their habitual position within one's body.
Although researchers started examining isolated aspects of the self, the
neurocognitive processes of OBEs have not been investigated experimentally to
further our understanding of the self. With the use of evoked potential mapping,
we show the selective activation of the temporoparietal junction (TPJ) at
330-400 ms after stimulus onset when healthy volunteers imagined themselves in
the position and visual perspective that generally are reported by people
experiencing
spontaneous OBEs..... [Read

Steve
Green says he was ready to make funeral arrangements after his brother had been
hit by a car and declared dead on a Franklin County road. Now, he's hoping those
arrangements won't be necessary. Just as a medical examiner was unzipping a body
bag Monday night to examine Larry Green's body to determine a cause of death, he
discovered Larry Green was breathing. That was two hours after he'd been hit by
a car and pronounced dead at the scene by emergency medical technicians..... [Read

If
you have evidence of the existence of a spiritual world, a world of help and
guidance and sympathy, then you can hold to it in spite of every denial of the
materialists, who can only base their denial on the absence of any sensory
stimulus to their material organism. Such a world may exist all round us, and
yet can only be spiritually discerned. The faculty of discernment does exist in
some people, and their positive evidence overweighs a wilderness of negation
from people whose perceptions are limited to the bodily senses..... [Read

Research
in near-death experiences suggests that after death a person is still alive in
some other form. British scientists report that many people who have been
brought back to life in emergency rooms are able to recount in detail how their
souls had exited their bodies and floated above the medical personnel.
Reincarnation treatment is gaining approval from more and more people. In such
treatment, patients could find what body parts were injured in their previous
lives. In some cases, this treatment has been more effective in diagnosis than
CT, MRI and blood tests..... [Read

Only
a few weeks later, Crystal Houser was dead. Her new heart and lungs seemed fine,
her death unexpected and quick ... Nichols suffered from an elevated type of
pulmonary hypertension - a hole in her heart ... She almost didn't make it. Like
Houser, Nichols had a severe reaction to some of the post-surgery medicines she
was required to take ... Her life in the balance, Nichols said she had a dream
or near-death experience in the hospital in which she was greeted by several
deceased family members - and a girl with blond hair she didn't recognize.
Nichols said she wanted to go with the family members and girl, who made it
clear to her that "it was not my time" to join them. Nichols believes the girl

coronary artery. Day remembers looking down at his body, watching from the

Dangerous
levels of climate change could be reached in just over 20 years if nothing is
done to stop global warming, a WWF-UK study claims. At current rates, the Earth
will be 2 degrees Celsius above pre-industrial levels some time between 2026 and
2060, says a paper by Dr Mark New of Oxford University. Temperatures in the
Arctic could rise by three times this amount, he says. It would lead to a loss
of summer sea ice and tundra vegetation, with polar bears and other animals

Einstein's
general relativity theory allows for the existence of "wormholes" or gateways

is still unknown whether quantum corrections make such a journey possible or
not. Although once considered a preposterous idea, the concept of the "multiverse"—that
our universe coexists with an infinite number of parallel universes—has recently
generated much interest among physicists from several directions ... [Read

QUESTION:
"Have you come across any near-death experiencers who were blind or deaf?" --
Jeffrey. |
|
|
P.M.H. Atwater'S REPLY:
I encountered some adult near-death experiencers who were blind, most of them
since birth, in my research, but no children who were. Of the adult experiencers,
all of them claimed to see and clearly during their near-death episode. What
amazed me is that those who were blind since birth - never saw - recognized
colors instantly and knew what color was which just by the site of it, and used
the right words to describe what they saw - even if it was to describe people
who entered their hospital room, people they had never before touched, heard, or
were around ... [Read

This is one of the greatest NDE
stories ever told. It was first released on July 10, 2000, and now a second
edition will be released this February 15th. Not since Betty Eadie's "Embraced
by the Light" has a NDE story been so utterly different from most others or
more compelling. Perhaps no one but Howard Storm
has fallen to such great depths, then risen to such great heights, and lived to
tell about it. Rather than being welcomed by light beings immediately after
death, Howard was tortured by monstrous beings of depravity. But a simple
childhood prayer allowed him to be rescued by Jesus himself and be taken to
heaven. As it was with Betty Eadie,
Howard's story is a great message of hope and a great message of redemption.
Anne Rice, who wrote the
Foreword of Howard's book, had this to say about it: “This is a book you devour
from cover to cover, and pass on to others. This is a book you will quote in
your daily conversation. Storm was meant to write it and we were meant to read
it.” Anne Rice read the manuscript and was so overwhelmed, she volunteered to
provide the foreword. [Read

Are you the sum aggregate of an
epiphenomenon of random firing neurons that simply no longer exists after the
complex system dies or are you a spirit that temporarily resides in this “brain
machine” that is liberated upon the death of this complex neurological system?
These two philosophies are not only basic, they are opposite and opposing. Both
can not be truth. Either Life is a koas between two nothings or it is a complex
and dynamic co-existence between the physical and spiritual worlds. This book
examines this question like no other because of the unique background of the
author. Not only a neurologist which gives him a position of some authority on
this subject but he is also an engineer which contribute a degree of logic to
the equation. [Read

John Jay Harper is a clinical hypnotherapist in Spokane, Washington who has written an ebook that integrates
the NDE within the framework of both science and religion; specifically it is a
theory on the operation of cosmic consciousness itself. His passion for learning
about the hereafter was inspired by a 1988 after-death visitation with a
deceased colleague - an experience which changed him from skeptic to mystic. It
was this close encounter and the myriad of questions it generated which
relentlessly drove him to solve the riddle of life after death and publish his
findings. His book has recently been released as an ebook which is the only
version that reflects Earth Changes predictions and includes overall major
textual improvements. His ebook is available for immediate purchase and download

alternative medicine, here is a collection of essays about his travels to South

Peter Russell went from being a
strict atheist and scientist to discovering a profound personal synthesis of the
mystical and the scientific. That transition is the basis of his book which he
blends physics, psychology, and philosophy to reach a new worldview in which
consciousness is a fundamental quality of creation. Russell shows how all the
ingredients for this worldview are in place; it remains only to put the pieces
together and explore the new picture of reality that emerges. Integrating a deep
knowledge of science with his own experiences of meditation, Russell arrives at
a universe similar to that described by many mystics - one in which the inner
and outer worlds no longer conflict. The bridge between them, he shows, is
light, and this book invites readers to cross that bridge to find new meaning in
God and a deeper significance in spiritual practice. [Read

The famous NDE skeptic's latest
book challenges the reader to reconsider key concepts such as personality, free
will, and the soul. How can a physical brain create our experience of the world?
What creates our identity? Do we really have free will? Could consciousness
itself be an illusion? Exciting new developments in brain science are opening up
the debate on these issues. Blackmore combines the perspectives of philosophy,
psychology, and neuroscience - and serves as a launch pad for further
exploration of this "last great mystery of science." [Read
