NDE flashes of lightI don't know why, but just felt like passing on what happened to me to someone that deals with this sort of thing:

Back in 1992, I was kicked by a horse that fractured two ribs in front, four in the back, collapsed a lung and bruised my heart to the point that I was throwing PVC's (Premature Ventricular Contractions) for several days. While I was laying on the ground, CPR was performed on me by my aunt (yes, she had taken the course, knew what to look for and has some basic BLS knowledge).

During this time that I was clinically dead, I saw no lights, saw nothing but a lot of images of various things flashing through my head. These images were what I could only guess as "life flashing before my eyes." I do remember that these images began to fade and slow down a bit up to the point that I could distinctly remember an image of a horse flash through my head. This was when I very distinctly remember causing the images in my head to stop and I realized that the horse had kicked me.

Up until this point, my aunt was doing CPR, but stopped because of the potential damage caused by my broken ribs. I laid there for over two minutes in this state (No CPR, just dead). At this point, I made myself wake up. I felt my lung re-expand/start to work for it is a pain I remember to this day. I also remember feeling the pain in my chest and the first beat of my heart as I came to.

Basically, I spent two days in ICU and three more in PCU then was sent home. No lights, nothing cool, just me knowing that I was the one that made my body work again because I had one basic thought. "I am going to kill that horse."

Anyway, just another story for your achieves. The fact that my lung was collapsed, my heart wasn't beating, etc. was collaborated by physical exam at the ER after my ambulance ride.

"Normally we do not like to think about death. We would rather think about life. Why reflect on death? When you start preparing for death you soon realize that you must look into your life ... now ... and come to face the truth of your self. Death is like a mirror in which the true meaning of life is reflected." - Sogyal Rinpoche
